The artwork on the hand-thrown gaiwan is intricate, complex, and brilliantly sophisticated. These are meticulous full-effort creations hand-painted by senior artists from the kiln.
Different kilns in Jingdezhen develop their special clay blends based on the famous local kaolin clay. 拾真堂 is one of the top tier kilns in Jingdezhen. They use kiln fires at around 1380 degrees Celsius, taking 18 hours to create highly dense porcelain that is exceptionally fragrant when brewing tea.
Besides its special designed clay and glaze, pure hand-painted artwork on the gaiwan, whether in blue and white porcelain（青花瓷） or in pink pastel（粉彩）, results in artwork that is incredibly delicate and sophisticated with an excellent texture. This craftsmanship gives Jingdezhen porcelain its unique charm and global renown.
